Sequitur by Steve Hauschildt

The unexpected drum machines on Emeralds' Just to Feel Anything make more sense in the context of member Steve Hauschildt's concurrent solo album, Sequitur. With its pitter-patter machine beats, verse/chorus structures and occasional vocoders, it's as close to pop (particularly, Kraftwerk) as anything in the camp's catalog. If there were a knob for lush, Hauschildt's would go to 11: Imagine the downiest bits of Mike Oldfield, Cocteau Twins and Edgar Froese, fluff them, and they'd still sound lumpier than Hauschildt's sumptuous synth work.
