Latin pop provocateur Gloria Trevi has a new gimmick: an alter-ego named "Mr. Trevi," through which she sings half the songs on this album from a man's point of view. Those include Roberto Carlos' romantic classic "Como Yo Te Amo," which she interprets with husky vocals. The Mexican diva covers another Carlos hit, "Desahogo," with a more habitual feminine seductiveness. Ballsy premise aside, the tracks on this orchestral production might seem overwrought to newcomers, but it will likely inspire "Amor" at first listen for the many longtime Trevi fans out there.
