B.O.C.'s second album opens with the undeniable classic "The Red and the Black," which translates from hard rock to punk so well the Minutemen covered it on Double Nickels on the Dime. With hurtling guitars and a tough-as-nails chorus, "Hot Rails to Hell" also predicts the coming punk movement, while "7 Screaming Diz-Busters" basically lays out the Blue Oyster Cult manifesto: staking out the no man's land between hard rock and metal with riffs on top of riffs, and lyrics that are either funny or stupid. Or both.
