For We Are Many
Label: Razor & Tie
For We Are Many isn't too terribly original. From the album's title to howler Philip Labonte's lyrics, the group regurgitates hardcore's stock themes: us versus them, keep on fighting the good fight, don't ever give in, strength in numbers and so on. What's more, one too many songs employ that clean voice/guttural howl shtick. Fortunately, All That Remains make up for their lack of originality with a brutal sonic assault built from Swedish death metal, American metalcore and classic heavy metal. The track best exemplifying this three-pronged attack is the three-minute epic "Dead Wrong."
